Imam An-Nawawi rahimahullah said:

"Sahaba-Companions we say is mustahab to fast six days of Shawwal. From this hadeeth they said: Sunnah mustahabah done in sequence at the beginning of Shawwal, but if someone separates or delay their implementation until the end of Shawwal, it is also possible, since he is still in the general meaning of the hadith. There are texts which forbid a woman to fast when her husband's circumcision was present at his side (not flier / safar) except with the permission of her husband, this is not to block the biological needs.
